Take a break from the books and be Purple and Proud!
Uni-life can feel like a never-ending cycle of exams, assignments and study sessions. So set your calendar for a break!
Join the USC in cheering on our varsity volleyball teams as they take on the McMaster Marauders on November 15th, 2024 at Alumni Hall. The Women’s team will start us off at 6 p.m., followed by the men’s team at 8 p.m.
You can look forward to a hype-filled event complete with free giveaways, free popcorn for the first 100 attendees, and a 19+ licensed area for an added game-day vibe.
And best of all—admission is free for Western students!
It’s More Than Just a Game!
Attending varsity sports games isn’t just about sports— it’s about being an active member of the Western community.
University varsity games are a bonding experience with your friends and fellow students. It’s an easy way to get involved with the Western community!
As a fourth-year student, I chose Western for many reasons – one of the biggest being the sense of community and vibrant student life. As my time here comes to an end, I’m reflecting on all my memories and realizing that I want to make more Western-focused memories.
In an attempt to soak in all the Western-goodness, I’m going to more varsity sports games!
Whether you’re also a fourth-year student trying to get in all the school spirit, looking for some more wholesome activities, or wanting to switch up your study breaks, attending some varsity sports games could be the answer you’re looking for.
Don’t Know When or Where?
We heard your feedback and the number one barrier between students and attending varsity sports games is a lack of basic information. In other words, students don’t know when games are even happening.
Between class schedules, assignments and extracurricular activities it is easy to miss out on these events. The good news? The Western Mustangs website has a composite schedule that includes details like what, where, and when games are occurring so that you’ll always be in the know.
Also, make sure you’re following @westernmustangs for recaps when you can’t make it!
But Wait, You Need More Reasons?
When asked about the impact of having students in the stands, Anna Hawkins, a fourth-year Rugby varsity athlete and one of my roommates, shared how much it means to the team.
“An energetic crowd really does impact our performance and motivates us to play better,” Hawkins said.
The USC is planning two other series of varsity games for next semester: basketball and hockey with even more free food and merch giveaways. So join us this Friday and stay tuned for more details next semester.
How much more convincing do you need?
Are we really going to let the Marauders out-cheer us? Not if I have anything to say about it.
